Micah 4:1-5

그 날이 오면, 주님의 성전이 서 있는 주님의 산이 산들 가운데서 가장 높이 솟아서, 모든 언덕을 아래로 내려다 보며, 우뚝 설 것이다. 민족들이 구름처럼 그리로 몰려올 것이다.
민족마다 오면서 이르기를 "자, 가자. 우리 모두 주님의 산으로 올라가자. 야곱의 하나님이 계신 성전으로 어서 올라가자. 주님께서 우리에게 주님의 길을 가르치실 것이니, 주님께서 가르치시는 길을 따르자" 할 것이다. 율법이 시온에서 나오며, 주님의 말씀이 예루살렘에서 나온다.
주님께서 민족들 사이의 분쟁을 판결하시고, 원근 각처에 있는 열강 사이의 갈등을 해결하실 것이니, 나라마다 칼을 쳐서 보습을 만들고 창을 쳐서 낫을 만들 것이며, 나라와 나라가 칼을 들고 서로를 치지 않을 것이며, 다시는 군사 훈련도 하지 않을 것이다.
사람마다 자기 포도나무와 무화과나무 아래 앉아서, 평화롭게 살 것이다. 사람마다 아무런 위협을 받지 않으면서 살 것이다. 이것은 만군의 주님께서 약속하신 것이다.
다른 모든 민족은 각기 자기 신들을 섬기고 순종할 것이다. 그러나 우리는 언제까지나, 주 우리의 하나님만을 섬기고, 그분에게만 순종할 것이다.In the last days the mountain of the LORD's temple will be established as chief among the mountains; it will be raised above the hills, and peoples will stream to it.
Many nations will come and say, "Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob. He will teach us his ways, so that we may walk in his paths." The law will go out from Zion, the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.
He will judge between many peoples and will settle disputes for strong nations far and wide. They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore.
Every man will sit under his own vine and under his own fig tree, and no one will make them afraid, for the LORD Almighty has spoken.
All the nations may walk in the name of their gods; we will walk in the name of the LORD our God for ever and ever.

Micah 3:9-12

야곱 집의 지도자들아, 이스라엘 집의 지도자들아, 곧 정의를 미워하고, 올바른 것을 모두 그릇되게 하는 자들아, 나의 말을 들어라.
너희는 백성을 죽이고서, 그 위에 시온을 세우고, 죄악으로 터를 닦고서, 그 위에 예루살렘을 세웠다.이 도성의 지도자들은 뇌물을 받고서야 다스리며, 제사장들은 삯을 받고서야 율법을 가르치며, 예언자들은 돈을 받고서야 계시를 밝힌다. 그러면서도, 이런 자들은 하나같이 주님께서 자기들과 함께 계신다고 큰소리를 친다. '주님께서 우리와 함께 계시니, 우리에게 재앙이 닥치지 않는다'고 말한다.
그러므로 바로 너희 때문에 시온이 밭 갈듯 뒤엎어질 것이며, 예루살렘이 폐허더미가 되고, 성전이 서 있는 이 산은 수풀만이 무성한 언덕이 되고 말 것이다.Hear this, you leaders of the house of Jacob, you rulers of the house of Israel, who despise justice and distort all that is right;
who build Zion with bloodshed, and Jerusalem with wickedness.Her leaders judge for a bribe, her priests teach for a price, and her prophets tell fortunes for money. Yet they lean upon the LORD and say, "Is not the LORD among us? No disaster will come upon us."
Therefore because of you, Zion will be plowed like a field, Jerusalem will become a heap of rubble, the temple hill a mound overgrown with thickets.

Micah 3:5-8

"예언자라는 자들이 나의 백성을 속이고 있다. 입에 먹을 것을 물려 주면 평화를 외치고, 먹을 것을 주지 아니하면 전쟁이 다가온다고 협박한다.예언자들아, 너희의 날이 끝났다. 이미 날이 저물었다. 내 백성을 곁길로 이끌었으니 너희가 다시는 환상을 못 볼 것이고 다시는 예언을 하지 못할 것이다."
선견자들이 부끄러워하며, 술객들이 수치를 당할 것이다. 하나님께서 응답하지 않으시니, 그들이 얼굴을 들지 못할 것이다.
그러나 나에게는, 주님께서 주님의 영과 능력을 채워 주시고, 정의감과 함께, 야곱에게 그의 죄를 꾸짖고 이스라엘에게 그의 범죄를 꾸짖을 용기를 주셨다.This is what the LORD says: "As for the prophets who lead my people astray, if one feeds them, they proclaim 'peace'; if he does not, they prepare to wage war against him.Therefore night will come over you, without visions, and darkness, without divination. The sun will set for the prophets, and the day will go dark for them.
The seers will be ashamed and the diviners disgraced. They will all cover their faces because there is no answer from God."
But as for me, I am filled with power, with the Spirit of the LORD, and with justice and might, to declare to Jacob his transgression, to Israel his sin.

Micah 3:1-4

그 때에 내가 말하였다. 야곱의 우두머리들아, 이스라엘 집의 지도자들아, 내가 하는 말을 들어라. 정의에 관심을 가져야 할 너희가, 선한 것을 미워하고, 악한 것을 사랑한다. 너희는 내 백성을 산 채로 그 가죽을 벗기고, 뼈에서 살을 뜯어낸다. 너희는 내 백성을 잡아 먹는다. 가죽을 벗기고, 뼈를 산산조각 바수고, 고기를 삶듯이, 내 백성을 가마솥에 넣고 삶는다. 살려 달라고 주님께 부르짖을 날이 그들에게 온다. 그러나 주님께서 그들의 호소를 들은 체도 하지 않으실 것이다. 그들이 그렇듯 악을 저질렀으니, 주님께서 그들의 기도를 들어주지 않으실 것이다; Then I said, "Listen, you leaders of Jacob, you rulers of the house of Israel. Should you not know justice, you who hate good and love evil; who tear the skin from my people and the flesh from their bones; who eat my people's flesh, strip off their skin and break their bones in pieces; who chop them up like meat for the pan, like flesh for the pot?" Then they will cry out to the LORD, but he will not answer them. At that time he will hide his face from them because of the evil they have done.

Micah 2:12-13

야곱아, 내가 반드시 너희를 다 모으겠다. 남아 있는 이스라엘 백성을 다 모으겠다. 내가 너희를 우리로 돌아오는 양 떼처럼 모으겠다. 양 떼로 가득 찬 초장과도 같이, 너희의 땅이 다시 백성으로 가득 찰 것이다.
길을 여는 자가 그들 앞서 올라가고 그들은 성문들을 부수고, 바깥으로 나갈 것이다. 그들의 왕이 앞장 서서 걸어가며 나 주가 선두에 서서 그들을 인도할 것이다.""I will surely gather all of you, O Jacob; I will surely bring together the remnant of Israel. I will bring them together like sheep in a pen, like a flock in its pasture; the place will throng with people.
One who breaks open the way will go up before them; they will break through the gate and go out. Their king will pass through before them, the LORD at their head."

Micah 2:6-11

내가 주님 앞에 나아갈 때에, 높으신 하나님께 예배드릴 때에, 무엇을 가지고 가야 합니까? 번제물로 바칠 일 년 된 송아지를 가지고 가면 됩니까?
수천 마리의 양이나, 수만의 강 줄기를 채울 올리브 기름을 드리면, 주님께서 기뻐하시겠습니까? 내 허물을 벗겨 주시기를 빌면서, 내 맏아들이라도 주님께 바쳐야 합니까? 내가 지은 죄를 용서하여 주시기를 빌면서, 이 몸의 열매를 주님께 바쳐야 합니까?
너 사람아, 무엇이 착한 일인지를 주님께서 이미 말씀하셨다. 주님께서 너에게 요구하시는 것이 무엇인지도 이미 말씀하셨다. 오로지 공의를 실천하며 인자를 사랑하며 겸손히 네 하나님과 함께 행하는 것이 아니냐!
들어라! 주님께서 성읍을 부르신다. (주님의 이름을 경외하는 것이 지혜다.) "너희는 매를 순히 받고 그것을 정한 나에게 순종하여라.
악한 자의 집에는, 속여서 모은 보물이 있다. 가짜 되를 쓴 그들을, 내가 어떻게 용서할 수 있겠느냐?틀리는 저울과 추로 속인 사람들을, 내가 어떻게 용서할 수 있겠느냐?With what shall I come before the LORD and bow down before the exalted God? Shall I come before him with burnt offerings, with calves a year old?
Will the LORD be pleased with thousands of rams, with ten thousand rivers of oil? Shall I offer my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?
He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.
Listen! The LORD is calling to the city-- and to fear your name is wisdom-- "Heed the rod and the One who appointed it.
Am I still to forget, O wicked house, your ill-gotten treasures and the short ephah, which is accursed? Shall I acquit a man with dishonest scales, with a bag of false weights?

Micah 2:1-5

악한 궁리나 하는 자들, 잠자리에 누워서도 음모를 꾸미는 자들은 망한다! 그들은 권력을 쥐었다고 해서, 날이 새자마자 음모대로 해치우고 마는 자들이다.
탐나는 밭을 빼앗고, 탐나는 집을 제 것으로 만든다. 집 임자를 속여서 집을 빼앗고, 주인에게 딸린 사람들과 유산으로 받은 밭을 제 것으로 만든다.
"그러므로 나 주가 말한다. 내가 이 백성에게 재앙을 내리기로 계획하였으니, 이 재앙을 너희가 피할 수 없을 것이다. 너희가 거만하게 걸을 수도 없을 것이다. 그처럼 견디기 어려운 재앙의 때가 될 것이다.
그 날이 오면, 사람들이 너희를 두고서 이러한 풍자시를 지어서 읊을 것이다. 슬픔에 사무친 애가를 지어서 부를 것이다. '우리는 알거지가 되었다. 주님께서 내 백성의 유산의 몫을 나누시고, 나에게서 빼앗은 땅을 반역자들의 몫으로 할당해 주셨다.'
그러므로 주님의 총회에서 줄을 띄워 땅을 나누고 제비 뽑아 분배할 때에 너희의 몫은 없을 것이다.Woe to those who plan iniquity, to those who plot evil on their beds! At morning's light they carry it out because it is in their power to do it.
They covet fields and seize them, and houses, and take them. They defraud a man of his home, a fellowman of his inheritance.
Therefore, the LORD says: "I am planning disaster against this people, from which you cannot save yourselves. You will no longer walk proudly, for it will be a time of calamity.
In that day men will ridicule you; they will taunt you with this mournful song: 'We are utterly ruined; my people's possession is divided up. He takes it from me! He assigns our fields to traitors.' "
Therefore you will have no one in the assembly of the LORD to divide the land by lot.

Micah 1:8-16

그러므로 내가 슬퍼하며 통곡하고, 맨발로 벌거벗고 다니며, 여우처럼 구슬피 울며, 타조처럼 목놓아 울 것이니, 이것은, 사마리아의 상처가 고칠 수 없는 병이 되고, 그 불치병이 유다에까지 전염되고, 기어이 예루살렘에까지, 내 백성의 성문에까지 이르렀기 때문이다. "가드에 알리지 말며, 울지 말아라. 베들레아브라에서는 티끌에 묻어라.사빌에 사는 사람들아, 벌거벗은 몸으로 부끄러움을 당하며 사로잡혀 가거라. 사아난에 사는 사람들은 감히 그 성읍에서 나오지도 못할 것이다. 벳에셀이 통곡하여 너희로 의지할 곳이 없게 할 것이다. 나 주가 예루살렘 성문에까지 재앙을 내렸으므로, 마롯에 사는 사람들은 고통을 받으면서 거기에서 벗어나기를 기다린다. 라기스에 사는 사람들아, 너희는 군마에 병거를 매어라. 라기스는 딸 시온의 죄의 근본이니, 이는 이스라엘의 허물이 네게서 보였기 때문이다. 그러므로 너는 모레셋 가드 백성에게는 작별의 선물을 주어라. 악십의 집들이 이스라엘 왕들을 속일 것이다. 마레사에 사는 사람들아, 내가 너희 대적을 너희에게 데려올 것이니, 이스라엘의 영광인 그가 아둘람으로 피할 것이다.너희는 사랑하는 아들딸을 생각하며, 머리를 밀고 애곡하여라. 머리를 밀어 독수리처럼 대머리가 되어라. 너희의 아들딸들이 너희의 품을 떠나서, 사로잡혀 갈 것이다." ; Because of this I will weep and wail; I will go about barefoot and naked. I will howl like a jackal and moan like an owl. For her wound is incurable; it has come to Judah. It has reached the very gate of my people, even to Jerusalem itself. Tell it not in Gath ; weep not at all. In Beth Ophrah roll in the dust.Pass on in nakedness and shame, you who live in Shaphir. Those who live in Zaanan will not come out. Beth Ezel is in mourning; its protection is taken from you.
Those who live in Maroth writhe in pain, waiting for relief, because disaster has come from the LORD, even to the gate of Jerusalem. You who live in Lachish, harness the team to the chariot. You were the beginning of sin to the Daughter of Zion, for the transgressions of Israel were found in you. Therefore you will give parting gifts to Moresheth Gath. The town of Aczib will prove deceptive to the kings of Israel.
I will bring a conqueror against you who live in Mareshah. He who is the glory of Israel will come to Adullam.Shave your heads in mourning for the children in whom you delight; make yourselves as bald as the vulture, for they will go from you into exile.

Micah 1:1-7

이것은 주님께서, 사마리아와 예루살렘이 어찌 될 것인지를, 모레셋 사람 미가에게 보여 주시면서 하신 말씀이다. 때는 유다의 왕 요담과 아하스와 히스기야가 대를 이어 가면서 유다를 다스리던 기간이다. 뭇 민족아, 너희는 모두 들어라. 땅과 거기에 있는 만물들아, 귀를 기울여라. 주 하나님이 너희의 죄를 밝히신다. 주님께서 하늘의 성전에서 말씀하신다. 주님께서 그 거처에서 나오시어 땅의 높은 곳을 짓밟으시니,
뭇 산이 그 발 밑에서 녹고 평지가 갈라진다. 불 앞의 밀초처럼 녹아 내리고, 비탈길로 쏟아져 내리는 급류 같구나. 이 모든 일이 일어나는 것은 야곱의 죄 때문이며, 이스라엘 집의 범죄 때문이다. 야곱의 죄가 무엇이냐? 사마리아가 아니더냐? 유다의 산당이 무엇이냐? 예루살렘이 아니더냐? "내가 사마리아를 빈 들의 폐허로, 포도나 가꿀 밭으로 만들겠다. 그 성의 돌들은 골짜기에 쏟아 붓고, 성의 기초가 드러나게 하겠다.
새겨서 만든 우상을 모두 박살내고, 몸을 팔아서 모은 재물을 모두 불에 태우고, 우상을 모두 부수어서 쓰레기 더미로 만들겠다. 몸을 팔아서 화대로 긁어 모았으니, 이제, 모든 것이 다시 창녀의 몸값으로 나갈 것이다." The word of the LORD that came to Micah of Moresheth during the reigns of Jotham, Ahaz and Hezekiah, kings of Judah--the vision he saw concerning Samaria and Jerusalem. Hear, O peoples, all of you, listen, O earth and all who are in it, that the Sovereign LORD may witness against you, the Lord from his holy temple.
Look! The LORD is coming from his dwelling place; he comes down and treads the high places of the earth. The mountains melt beneath him and the valleys split apart, like wax before the fire, like water rushing down a slope. All this is because of Jacob's transgression, because of the sins of the house of Israel. What is Jacob's transgression? Is it not Samaria? What is Judah's high place? Is it not Jerusalem?"Therefore I will make Samaria a heap of rubble, a place for planting vineyards. I will pour her stones into the valley and lay bare her foundations.
All her idols will be broken to pieces; all her temple gifts will be burned with fire; I will destroy all her images. Since she gathered her gifts from the wages of prostitutes, as the wages of prostitutes they will again be used."

Jonah 4:10-11

주님께서 말씀하셨다. "네가 수고하지도 않았고, 네가 키운 것도 아니며, 그저 하룻밤 사이에 자라났다가 하룻밤 사이에 죽어 버린 이 식물을 네가 그처럼 아까워하는데,하물며 좌우를 가릴 줄 모르는 사람들이 십이만 명도 더 되고 짐승들도 수없이 많은 이 큰 성읍 니느웨를, 어찌 내가 아끼지 않겠느냐?"; But the LORD said, "You have been concerned about this vine, though you did not tend it or make it grow. It sprang up overnight and died overnight.But Nineveh has more than a hundred and twenty thousand people who cannot tell their right hand from their left, and many cattle as well. Should I not be concerned about that great city?"

Jonah 4:6-9

주 하나님이 박 넝쿨을 마련하셨다. 주님께서는, 그것이 자라올라 요나의 머리 위에 그늘이 지게 하여, 그를 편안하게 해주셨다. 박 넝쿨 때문에 요나는 기분이 무척 좋았다.
그러나 다음날 동이 틀 무렵, 하나님이 벌레를 한 마리 마련하셨는데, 그것이 박 넝쿨을 쏠아 버리니, 그 식물이 시들고 말았다.
해가 뜨자, 하나님이 찌는 듯이 뜨거운 동풍을 마련하셨다. 햇볕이 요나의 머리 위로 내리쬐니, 그는 기력을 잃고 죽기를 자청하면서 말하였다. "이렇게 사느니 차라리 죽는 것이 더 낫겠습니다."
하나님이 요나에게 말씀하셨다. "박 넝쿨이 죽었다고 네가 이렇게 화를 내는 것이 옳으냐?" 요나가 대답하였다. "옳다뿐이겠습니까? 저는 화가 나서 죽겠습니다."Then the LORD God provided a vine and made it grow up over Jonah to give shade for his head to ease his discomfort, and Jonah was very happy about the vine.
But at dawn the next day God provided a worm, which chewed the vine so that it withered.
When the sun rose, God provided a scorching east wind, and the sun blazed on Jonah's head so that he grew faint. He wanted to die, and said, "It would be better for me to die than to live."
But God said to Jonah, "Do you have a right to be angry about the vine?" "I do," he said. "I am angry enough to die."

Jonah 4:1-5

요나는 이 일이 매우 못마땅하여, 화가 났다.
그는 주님께 기도하며 아뢰었다. "주님, 내가 고국에 있을 때에 이렇게 될 것이라고 이미 말씀드리지 않았습니까? 내가 서둘러 스페인으로 달아났던 것도 바로 이것 때문입니다. 하나님은 은혜로우시며 자비로우시며 좀처럼 노하지 않으시며 사랑이 한없는 분이셔서, 내리시려던 재앙마저 거두실 것임을 내가 알고 있었기 때문입니다.
주님, 이제는 제발 내 목숨을 나에게서 거두어 주십시오! 이렇게 사느니, 차라리 죽는 것이 낫겠습니다."
주님께서는 "네가 화를 내는 것이 옳으냐?" 하고 책망하셨다.
요나는 그 성읍에서 빠져 나와 그 성읍 동쪽으로 가서 머물렀다. 그는 거기에다 초막을 짓고, 그 그늘 아래에 앉았다. 그 성읍이 어찌 되는가를 볼 셈이었다; But Jonah was greatly displeased and became angry.
He prayed to the LORD, "O LORD, is this not what I said when I was still at home? That is why I was so quick to flee to Tarshish. I knew that you are a gracious and compassionate God, slow to anger and abounding in love, a God who relents from sending calamity.
Now, O LORD, take away my life, for it is better for me to die than to live."
But the LORD replied, "Have you any right to be angry?"
Jonah went out and sat down at a place east of the city. There he made himself a shelter, sat in its shade and waited to see what would happen to the city.

Jonah 3:1-10

주님께서 또다시 요나에게 말씀하셨다.
"너는 어서 저 큰 성읍 니느웨로 가서, 이제 내가 너에게 한 말을 그 성읍에 외쳐라."
요나는 주님께서 말씀하신 대로, 곧 길을 떠나 니느웨로 갔다. 니느웨는 둘러보는 데만 사흘길이나 되는 아주 큰 성읍이다.
요나는 그 성읍으로 가서 하룻길을 걸으며 큰소리로 외쳤다. "사십 일만 지나면 니느웨가 무너진다!"
그러자 니느웨 백성들은 하나님의 말씀을 믿고, 금식을 선포하고, 그들 가운데 가장 높은 사람으로부터 가장 낮은 사람에 이르기까지 모두 굵은 베 옷을 입었다.이 소문이 니느웨의 왕에게 전해지니, 그도 임금의 의자에서 일어나, 걸치고 있던 임금의 옷을 벗고, 굵은 베 옷을 입고 잿더미에 앉았다.
왕은 니느웨 백성에게 다음과 같이 선포하여 알렸다."왕이 대신들과 더불어 내린 칙명을 따라서, 사람이든 짐승이든 소 떼든 양 떼든, 입에 아무것도 대서는 안 된다. 무엇을 먹어도 안 되고 물을 마셔도 안 된다.
사람이든 짐승이든 모두 굵은 베 옷만을 걸치고, 하나님께 힘껏 부르짖어라. 저마다 자기가 가던 나쁜 길에서 돌이키고, 힘이 있다고 휘두르던 폭력을 그쳐라.
하나님께서 마음을 돌리고 노여움을 푸실지 누가 아느냐? 그러면 우리가 멸망하지 않을 수도 있다."
하나님께서 그들이 뉘우치는 것, 곧 그들이 저마다 자기가 가던 나쁜 길에서 돌이키는 것을 보시고, 뜻을 돌이켜 그들에게 내리시겠다고 말씀하신 재앙을 내리지 않으셨다.Then the word of the LORD came to Jonah a second time:
"Go to the great city of Nineveh and proclaim to it the message I give you."
Jonah obeyed the word of the LORD and went to Nineveh. Now Nineveh was a very important city--a visit required three days.
On the first day, Jonah started into the city. He proclaimed: "Forty more days and Nineveh will be overturned."
The Ninevites believed God. They declared a fast, and all of them, from the greatest to the least, put on sackcloth.When the news reached the king of Nineveh, he rose from his throne, took off his royal robes, covered himself with sackcloth and sat down in the dust.
Then he issued a proclamation in Nineveh: "By the decree of the king and his nobles: Do not let any man or beast, herd or flock, taste anything; do not let them eat or drink.
But let man and beast be covered with sackcloth. Let everyone call urgently on God. Let them give up their evil ways and their violence.
Who knows? God may yet relent and with compassion turn from his fierce anger so that we will not perish."
When God saw what they did and how they turned from their evil ways, he had compassion and did not bring upon them the destruction he had threatened.

Jonah 2:1-10

요나가 물고기 뱃속에서 주 하나님께 기도드리며 아뢰었다. "내가 고통스러울 때 주님께 불러 아뢰었더니, 주님께서 내게 응답하셨습니다. 내가 스올 한가운데서 살려 달라고 외쳤더니, 주님께서 나의 호소를 들어주셨습니다. 주님께서 나를 바다 한가운데, 깊음 속으로 던지셨으므로, 큰 물결이 나를 에워싸고, 주님의 파도와 큰 물결이 내 위에 넘쳤습니다. 내가 주님께 아뢰기를 '주님의 눈 앞에서 쫓겨났어도, 내가 반드시 주님 계신 성전을 다시 바라보겠습니다' 하였습니다. 물이 나를 두르기를 영혼까지 하였으며, 깊음이 나를 에워쌌고, 바다풀이 내 머리를 휘감았습니다.나는 땅 속 멧부리까지 내려갔습니다. 땅이 빗장을 질러 나를 영영 가두어 놓으려 했습니다만, 주 나의 하나님, 주님께서 그 구덩이 속에서 내 생명을 건져 주셨습니다. 내 목숨이 힘없이 꺼져 갈 때에, 내가 주님을 기억하였더니, 나의 기도가 주님께 이르렀으며, 주님 계신 성전에까지 이르렀습니다. 헛된 우상을 섬기는 자들은, 주님께서 베풀어 주신 은혜를 저버립니다. 그러나 나는 감사의 노래를 부르며, 주님께 희생제물을 바치겠습니다. 서원한 것은 무엇이든지 지키겠습니다. 구원은 오직 주님에게서만 옵니다." 주님께서 그 물고기에게 명하시니, 물고기가 요나를 뭍에다가 뱉어 냈다; From inside the fish Jonah prayed to the LORD his God. He said: "In my distress I called to the LORD, and he answered me. From the depths of the grave I called for help, and you listened to my cry. You hurled me into the deep, into the very heart of the seas, and the currents swirled about me; all your waves and breakers swept over me.
I said, 'I have been banished from your sight; yet I will look again toward your holy temple.' The engulfing waters threatened me, the deep surrounded me; seaweed was wrapped around my head.To the roots of the mountains I sank down; the earth beneath barred me in forever. But you brought my life up from the pit, O LORD my God.
"When my life was ebbing away, I remembered you, LORD, and my prayer rose to you, to your holy temple. "Those who cling to worthless idols forfeit the grace that could be theirs. But I, with a song of thanksgiving, will sacrifice to you. What I have vowed I will make good. Salvation comes from the LORD." And the LORD commanded the fish, and it vomited Jonah onto dry land.

Jonah 1:11-17

그들은 요나를 들어서 바다에 던졌다. 폭풍이 일던 바다가 잔잔해졌다.사람들은 주님을 매우 두려워하게 되었으며, 주님께 희생제물을 바치고서, 주님을 섬기기로 약속하였다. 주님께서는 큰 물고기 한 마리를 마련하여 두셨다가, 요나를 삼키게 하셨다. 요나는 사흘 밤낮을 그 물고기 뱃속에서 지냈다; The sea was getting rougher and rougher. So they asked him, "What should we do to you to make the sea calm down for us?" "Pick me up and throw me into the sea," he replied, "and it will become calm. I know that it is my fault that this great storm has come upon you."
Instead, the men did their best to row back to land. But they could not, for the sea grew even wilder than before. Then they cried to the LORD, "O LORD, please do not let us die for taking this man's life. Do not hold us accountable for killing an innocent man, for you, O LORD, have done as you pleased." Then they took Jonah and threw him overboard, and the raging sea grew calm.At this the men greatly feared the LORD, and they offered a sacrifice to the LORD and made vows to him. But the LORD provided a great fish to swallow Jonah, and Jonah was inside the fish three days and three nights.

Jonah 1:7-10

"어쩌자고 당신은 이런 일을 하였소?"Then the sailors said to each other, "Come, let us cast lots to find out who is responsible for this calamity." They cast lots and the lot fell on Jonah. So they asked him, "Tell us, who is responsible for making all this trouble for us? What do you do? Where do you come from? What is your country? From what people are you?" He answered, "I am a Hebrew and I worship the LORD, the God of heaven, who made the sea and the land." This terrified them and they asked, "What have you done?" (They knew he was running away from the LORD, because he had already told them so.)
