Genesis 35:1-5

하나님이 야곱에게 말씀하셨다. "어서 베델로 올라가, 거기에서 살아라. 네가 너의 형 에서 앞에서 피해 도망칠 때에, 너에게 나타난 그 하나님께 제단을 쌓아서 바쳐라." 야곱은, 자기의 가족과 자기가 거느리고 있는 모든 사람에게 명령하였다. "너희가 가지고 있는 이방 신상들을 다 버려라. 몸을 깨끗이 씻고, 옷을 갈아입어라. 이제 우리는 이 곳을 떠나서, 베델로 올라간다. 거기에다 나는, 내가 고생할 때에 나의 간구를 들어 주시고, 내가 가는 길 어디에서나 나와 함께 다니면서 보살펴 주신, 그 하나님께 제단을 쌓아서 바치고자 한다." 그들은, 자기들이 가지고 있는 모든 이방 신상과 귀에 걸고 있는 귀고리를 야곱에게 가져 왔다. 야곱은 그것들을 세겜 근처 상수리나무 밑에 묻었다. 그런 다음에 그들은 길을 떠났다. 하나님이 사방에 있는 모든 성읍 사람을 두려워 떨게 하셨으므로, 아무도 야곱의 아들들을 추격하지 못하였다.Then God said to Jacob, "Go up to Bethel and settle there, and build an altar there to God, who appeared to you when you were fleeing from your brother Esau." So Jacob said to his household and to all who were with him, "Get rid of the foreign gods you have with you, and purify yourselves and change your clothes. Then come, let us go up to Bethel, where I will build an altar to God, who answered me in the day of my distress and who has been with me wherever I have gone." So they gave Jacob all the foreign gods they had and the rings in their ears, and Jacob buried them under the oak at Shechem. Then they set out, and the terror of God fell upon the towns all around them so that no one pursued them.

Genesis 34:24-31

"그가 우리 누이를 창녀 다루듯이 하는 데도, 그대로 두라는 말입니까?" All the men who went out of the city gate agreed with Hamor and his son Shechem, and every male in the city was circumcised. Three days later, while all of them were still in pain, two of Jacob's sons, Simeon and Levi, Dinah's brothers, took their swords and attacked the unsuspecting city, killing every male. They put Hamor and his son Shechem to the sword and took Dinah from Shechem's house and left. The sons of Jacob came upon the dead bodies and looted the city where their sister had been defiled. They seized their flocks and herds and donkeys and everything else of theirs in the city and out in the fields. They carried off all their wealth and all their women and children, taking as plunder everything in the houses. Then Jacob said to Simeon and Levi, "You have brought trouble on me by making me a stench to the Canaanites and Perizzites, the people living in this land. We are few in number, and if they join forces against me and attack me, I and my household will be destroyed." But they replied, "Should he have treated our sister like a prostitute?"

Genesis 34:11-23

세겜도 디나의 아버지와 오라버니들에게 간청하였다. "저를 너그러이 보아 주시기 바랍니다. 원하시는 것은 무엇이든지 드리겠습니다. 신부를 데려오는 데 치러야 할 값을 정해 주시고, 제가 가져 와야 할 예물의 값도 정해 주시기 바랍니다. 아무리 많이 요구하셔도, 요구하시는 만큼 제가 치르겠습니다. 다만 제가 바라는 것은, 디나를 저의 아내로 주시기를 바라는 것뿐입니다." 야곱의 아들들은, 세겜이 그들의 누이 디나를 욕보였으므로, 세겜과 그의 아버지 하몰에게 짐짓 속임수를 썼다. 그들은 세겜과 하몰에게 이렇게 말하였다. Then Shechem said to Dinah's father and brothers, "Let me find favor in your eyes, and I will give you whatever you ask. Make the price for the bride and the gift I am to bring as great as you like, and I'll pay whatever you ask me. Only give me the girl as my wife." Because their sister Dinah had been defiled, Jacob's sons replied deceitfully as they spoke to Shechem and his father Hamor. They said to them, "We can't do such a thing; we can't give our sister to a man who is not circumcised. That would be a disgrace to us. We will give our consent to you on one condition only: that you become like us by circumcising all your males. Then we will give you our daughters and take your daughters for ourselves. We'll settle among you and become one people with you. But if you will not agree to be circumcised, we'll take our sister and go." Their proposal seemed good to Hamor and his son Shechem. The young man, who was the most honored of all his father's household, lost no time in doing what they said, because he was delighted with Jacob's daughter. So Hamor and his son Shechem went to the gate of their city to speak to their fellow townsmen. "These men are friendly toward us," they said. "Let them live in our land and trade in it; the land has plenty of room for them. We can marry their daughters and they can marry ours. But the men will consent to live with us as one people only on the condition that our males be circumcised, as they themselves are. Won't their livestock, their property and all their other animals become ours? So let us give our consent to them, and they will settle among us."

Genesis 34:1-10

Now Dinah, the daughter Leah had borne to Jacob, went out to visit the women of the land. When Shechem son of Hamor the Hivite, the ruler of that area, saw her, he took her and violated her. His heart was drawn to Dinah daughter of Jacob, and he loved the girl and spoke tenderly to her. And Shechem said to his father Hamor, "Get me this girl as my wife." When Jacob heard that his daughter Dinah had been defiled, his sons were in the fields with his livestock; so he kept quiet about it until they came home. Then Shechem's father Hamor went out to talk with Jacob. Now Jacob's sons had come in from the fields as soon as they heard what had happened. They were filled with grief and fury, because Shechem had done a disgraceful thing in Israel by lying with Jacob's daughter--a thing that should not be done. But Hamor said to them, "My son Shechem has his heart set on your daughter. Please give her to him as his wife. Intermarry with us; give us your daughters and take our daughters for yourselves. You can settle among us; the land is open to you. Live in it, trade in it, and acquire property in it."

Genesis 33:16-20

그 날로 에서는 길을 떠나 세일로 돌아갔고, 야곱은 숙곳으로 갔다. 거기에서 야곱은 자기들이 살 집과 짐승이 바람을 피할 우리를 지었다. 그래서 그 곳 이름이 숙곳이 되었다. 야곱이 밧단아람을 떠나, 가나안 땅의 세겜 성에 무사히 이르러서, 그 성 앞에다가 장막을 쳤다. 야곱은, 장막을 친 그 밭을, 세겜의 아버지인 하몰의 아들들에게서 은 백 냥을 주고 샀다. 야곱은 거기에서 제단을 쌓고, 그 이름을 엘엘로헤이스라엘이라고 하였다. So that day Esau started on his way back to Seir. Jacob, however, went to Succoth, where he built a place for himself and made shelters for his livestock. That is why the place is called Succoth. After Jacob came from Paddan Aram, he arrived safely at the city of Shechem in Canaan and camped within sight of the city. For a hundred pieces of silver, he bought from the sons of Hamor, the father of Shechem, the plot of ground where he pitched his tent. There he set up an altar and called it El Elohe Israel.

Genesis 33:12-15

에서가 말하였다. "자, 이제 갈 길을 서두르자. 내가 앞장을 서마." 야곱이 그에게 말하였다. "형님께서도 아시다시피, 아이들이 아직 어립니다. 또 저는 새끼 딸린 양 떼와 소 떼를 돌봐야 합니다. 하루만이라도 지나치게 빨리 몰고 가면 다 죽습니다. 형님께서는 이 아우보다 앞서서 떠나십시오. 그렇게 하시면, 저는 앞에 가는 이 가축 떼와 아이들을 이끌고, 그들의 걸음에 맞추어 천천히 세일로 가서, 형님께 나가겠습니다." 에서가 말하였다. "그렇다면, 내가 나의 부하 몇을 너와 같이 가게 하겠다." 야곱이 말렸다. "그러실 것까지는 없습니다. 형님께서 저를 너그럽게 맞아 주신 것만으로도 만족합니다."Then Esau said, "Let us be on our way; I'll accompany you." But Jacob said to him, "My lord knows that the children are tender and that I must care for the ewes and cows that are nursing their young. If they are driven hard just one day, all the animals will die. So let my lord go on ahead of his servant, while I move along slowly at the pace of the droves before me and that of the children, until I come to my lord in Seir." Esau said, "Then let me leave some of my men with you." "But why do that?" Jacob asked. "Just let me find favor in the eyes of my lord."

Genesis 33:6-11

그러자 두 여종과 그들에게서 난 아이들이 앞으로 나와서, 엎드려 절을 하였다. 다음에는 레아와 그에게서 난 아이들이 앞으로 나와서, 엎드려 절을 하였다. 마지막으로 요셉과 라헬이 나와서, 그들도 엎드려 절을 하였다. 에서가 물었다. "내가 오는 길에 만난 가축 떼는 모두 웬 것이냐?" 야곱이 대답하였다. "형님께 은혜를 입고 싶어서, 가지고 온 것입니다." 에서가 말하였다. "아우야, 나는 넉넉하다. 너의 것은 네가 가져라." 야곱이 말하였다. "아닙니다, 형님, 형님께서 저를 좋게 보시면, 제가 드리는 이 선물을 받아 주십시오. 형님께서 저를 이렇게 너그럽게 맞아 주시니, 형님의 얼굴을 뵙는 것이 하나님의 얼굴을 뵙는 듯합니다.하나님이 저에게 은혜를 베푸시므로, 제가 가진 것도 이렇게 넉넉하게 되었습니다. 그러니 제가 형님께 가지고 온 이 선물을 기꺼이 받아 주시기 바랍니다." 야곱이 간곡히 권하므로, 에서는 그 선물을 받았다.Then the maidservants and their children approached and bowed down. Next, Leah and her children came and bowed down. Last of all came Joseph and Rachel, and they too bowed down. Esau asked, "What do you mean by all these droves I met?" "To find favor in your eyes, my lord," he said. But Esau said, "I already have plenty, my brother. Keep what you have for yourself." "No, please!" said Jacob. "If I have found favor in your eyes, accept this gift from me. For to see your face is like seeing the face of God, now that you have received me favorably. Please accept the present that was brought to you, for God has been gracious to me and I have all I need." And because Jacob insisted, Esau accepted it.

Genesis 33:1-5

야곱이 고개를 들어 보니, 에서가 장정 사백 명을 거느리고 오고 있었다. 야곱은, 아이들을 레아와 라헬과 두 여종에게 나누어서 맡기고, 두 여종과 그들에게서 난 아이들은 앞에 세우고, 레아와 그에게서 난 아이들은 그 뒤에 세우고, 라헬과 요셉은 맨 뒤에 세워서 따라오게 하였다. 야곱은 맨 앞으로 나가서 형에게로 가까이 가면서, 일곱 번이나 땅에 엎드려 절을 하였다. 그러자 에서가 달려와서, 그를 끌어안았다. 에서는 두 팔을 벌려, 야곱의 목을 끌어안고서, 입을 맞추고, 둘은 함께 울었다. 에서가 고개를 들어, 여인들과 아이들을 보면서 물었다. "네가 데리고 온 이 사람들은 누구냐?" 야곱이 대답하였다. "이것들은 하나님이 형님의 못난 아우에게 은혜로 주신 자식들입니다."Jacob looked up and there was Esau, coming with his four hundred men; so he divided the children among Leah, Rachel and the two maidservants. He put the maidservants and their children in front, Leah and her children next, and Rachel and Joseph in the rear. He himself went on ahead and bowed down to the ground seven times as he approached his brother. But Esau ran to meet Jacob and embraced him; he threw his arms around his neck and kissed him. And they wept. Then Esau looked up and saw the women and children. "Who are these with you?" he asked. Jacob answered, "They are the children God has graciously given your servant."

Genesis 32:22-32

"너의 이름이 무엇이냐?" 야곱이 대답하였다. "야곱입니다." 그 사람이 말하였다. "네가 하나님과도 겨루어 이겼고, 사람과도 겨루어 이겼으니, 이제 네 이름은 야곱이 아니라 이스라엘이다." 야곱이 말하였다. "당신의 이름이 무엇인지 가르쳐 주십시오." 그러나 그는 "어찌하여 나의 이름을 묻느냐?" 하면서, 그 자리에서 야곱에게 축복하여 주었다. 야곱은 "내가 하나님의 얼굴을 직접 뵙고도, 목숨이 이렇게 붙어 있구나!" 하면서, 그 곳 이름을 브니엘이라고 하였다.그가 브니엘을 지날 때에, 해가 솟아올라서 그를 비추었다. 그는, 엉덩이뼈가 어긋났으므로, 절뚝거리며 걸었다. 밤에 나타난 그가 야곱의 엉덩이뼈의 힘줄을 쳤으므로, 이스라엘 사람들은 오늘날까지 짐승의 엉덩이뼈의 큰 힘줄을 먹지 않는다.That night Jacob got up and took his two wives, his two maidservants and his eleven sons and crossed the ford of the Jabbok. After he had sent them across the stream, he sent over all his possessions. So Jacob was left alone, and a man wrestled with him till daybreak. When the man saw that he could not overpower him, he touched the socket of Jacob's hip so that his hip was wrenched as he wrestled with the man.Then the man said, "Let me go, for it is daybreak." But Jacob replied, "I will not let you go unless you bless me." The man asked him, "What is your name?" "Jacob," he answered. Then the man said, "Your name will no longer be Jacob, but Israel, because you have struggled with God and with men and have overcome." Jacob said, "Please tell me your name." But he replied, "Why do you ask my name?" Then he blessed him there. So Jacob called the place Peniel, saying, "It is because I saw God face to face, and yet my life was spared."The sun rose above him as he passed Peniel, and he was limping because of his hip. Therefore to this day the Israelites do not eat the tendon attached to the socket of the hip, because the socket of Jacob's hip was touched near the tendon.

Genesis 32:9-21

야곱은 기도를 드렸다. "할아버지 아브라함을 보살펴 주신 하나님, 아버지 이삭을 보살펴 주신 하나님, 고향 친족에게로 돌아가면 은혜를 베푸시겠다고 저에게 약속하신 주님, 주님께서 주님의 종에게 베푸신 이 모든 은총과 온갖 진실을, 이 종은 감히 받을 자격이 없습니다. 제가 이 요단 강을 건널 때에, 가진 것이라고는 지팡이 하나뿐이었습니다만, 이제 저는 이처럼 두 무리나 이루었습니다.부디, 제 형의 손에서, 에서의 손에서, 저를 건져 주십시오. 형이 와서 저를 치고, 아내들과 자식들까지 죽일까 두렵습니다. 주님께서 말씀하시기를 '내가 반드시 너에게 은혜를 베풀어서, 너의 씨가 바다의 모래처럼 셀 수도 없이 많아지게 하겠다' 하시지 않으셨습니까?" 그 날 밤에 야곱은 거기에서 묵었다. 야곱은 자기가 가진 것 가운데서, 자기의 형 에서에게 줄 선물을 따로 골라 냈다. 암염소 이백 마리와 숫염소 스무 마리, 암양 이백 마리와 숫양 스무 마리, 젖을 빨리는 낙타 서른 마리와 거기에 딸린 새끼들, 암소 마흔 마리와 황소 열 마리, 암나귀 스무 마리와 새끼 나귀 열 마리였다. 야곱은 이것들을 몇 떼로 나누고, 자기의 종들에게 맡겨서, 자기보다 앞서서 가게 하고, 떼와 떼 사이에 거리를 두게 하라고 일렀다. 야곱은 맨 앞에 선 종에게 지시하였다. "나의 형 에서가 너를 만나서, 네가 뉘 집 사람이며, 어디로 가는 길이며, 네가 끌고 가는 이 짐승들이 다 누구의 것이냐고 묻거든, 너는 그에게 '이것은 모두 주인의 종 야곱의 것인데, 야곱이 그 형님 에서께 드리는 선물입니다. 야곱은 우리 뒤에 옵니다' 하고 말하여라." 야곱은, 둘째 떼를 몰고 떠나는 종과, 셋째 떼를 몰고 떠나는 종과, 나머지 떼를 몰고 떠나는 종들에게도, 똑같은 말로 지시하였다. "너희는 에서 형님을 만나거든, 그에게 똑같이 말하여야 한다. 그리고 '주인의 종 야곱은 우리 뒤에 옵니다' 하고 말하는 것을 잊지 않도록 하여라." 야곱이 이렇게 지시한 데는, 자기가 미리 여러 차례 보낸 선물들이 그 형 에서의 분노를 서서히 풀어 주고, 마침내 서로 만날 때에는, 형이 자기를 반가이 맞아 주리라고 생각하였기 때문이다 그래서 야곱은 선물을 실은 떼를 앞세워서 보내고, 자기는 그 날 밤에 장막에서 묵었다. Then Jacob prayed, "O God of my father Abraham, God of my father Isaac, O LORD, who said to me, 'Go back to your country and your relatives, and I will make you prosper,' I am unworthy of all the kindness and faithfulness you have shown your servant. I had only my staff when I crossed this Jordan, but now I have become two groups. Save me, I pray, from the hand of my brother Esau, for I am afraid he will come and attack me, and also the mothers with their children. But you have said, 'I will surely make you prosper and will make your descendants like the sand of the sea, which cannot be counted.' " He spent the night there, and from what he had with him he selected a gift for his brother Esau: two hundred female goats and twenty male goats, two hundred ewes and twenty rams, thirty female camels with their young, forty cows and ten bulls, and twenty female donkeys and ten male donkeys. He put them in the care of his servants, each herd by itself, and said to his servants, "Go ahead of me, and keep some space between the herds." He instructed the one in the lead: "When my brother Esau meets you and asks, 'To whom do you belong, and where are you going, and who owns all these animals in front of you?' then you are to say, 'They belong to your servant Jacob. They are a gift sent to my lord Esau, and he is coming behind us.' " He also instructed the second, the third and all the others who followed the herds: "You are to say the same thing to Esau when you meet him. And be sure to say, 'Your servant Jacob is coming behind us.' " For he thought, "I will pacify him with these gifts I am sending on ahead; later, when I see him, perhaps he will receive me." So Jacob's gifts went on ahead of him, but he himself spent the night in the camp.

Genesis 32:7-12

야곱은 너무나 두렵고 걱정이 되어서, 자기 일행과 양 떼와 소 떼와 낙타 떼를 두 패로 나누었다. 에서가 와서 한 패를 치면, 나머지 한 패라도 피하게 해야겠다는 속셈이었다. 야곱은 기도를 드렸다. I had only my staff when I crossed this Jordan, but now I have become two groups.Save me, I pray, from the hand of my brother Esau, for I am afraid he will come and attack me, and also the mothers with their children. But you have said, 'I will surely make you prosper and will make your descendants like the sand of the sea, which cannot be counted.' "

Genesis 32:1-6

I have cattle and donkeys, sheep and goats, menservants and maidservants. Now I am sending this message to my lord, that I may find favor in your eyes.' "When the messengers returned to Jacob, they said, "We went to your brother Esau, and now he is coming to meet you, and four hundred men are with him."

Genesis 31:51-55

May the God of Abraham and the God of Nahor, the God of their father, judge between us." So Jacob took an oath in the name of the Fear of his father Isaac. He offered a sacrifice there in the hill country and invited his relatives to a meal. After they had eaten, they spent the night there. Early the next morning Laban kissed his grandchildren and his daughters and blessed them. Then he left and returned home.

Genesis 31:41-50

But God has seen my hardship and the toil of my hands, and last night he rebuked you." Laban answered Jacob, "The women are my daughters, the children are my children, and the flocks are my flocks. All you see is mine. Yet what can I do today about these daughters of mine, or about the children they have borne? Come now, let's make a covenant, you and I, and let it serve as a witness between us." So Jacob took a stone and set it up as a pillar. He said to his relatives, "Gather some stones." So they took stones and piled them in a heap, and they ate there by the heap. Laban called it Jegar Sahadutha, and Jacob called it Galeed. Laban said, "This heap is a witness between you and me today." That is why it was called Galeed. It was also called Mizpah, because he said, "May the LORD keep watch between you and me when we are away from each other. If you mistreat my daughters or if you take any wives besides my daughters, even though no one is with us, remember that God is a witness between you and me."

Genesis 31:31-40

After he came out of Leah's tent, he entered Rachel's tent. Now Rachel had taken the household gods and put them inside her camel's saddle and was sitting on them. Laban searched through everything in the tent but found nothing. Rachel said to her father, "Don't be angry, my lord, that I cannot stand up in your presence; I'm having my period." So he searched but could not find the household gods.Jacob was angry and took Laban to task. "What is my crime?" he asked Laban. "What sin have I committed that you hunt me down? Now that you have searched through all my goods, what have you found that belongs to your household? Put it here in front of your relatives and mine, and let them judge between the two of us. "I have been with you for twenty years now. Your sheep and goats have not miscarried, nor have I eaten rams from your flocks. I did not bring you animals torn by wild beasts; I bore the loss myself. And you demanded payment from me for whatever was stolen by day or night. This was my situation: The heat consumed me in the daytime and the cold at night, and sleep fled from my eyes.

Genesis 31:22-30

On the third day Laban was told that Jacob had fled. Taking his relatives with him, he pursued Jacob for seven days and caught up with him in the hill country of Gilead. Then God came to Laban the Aramean in a dream at night and said to him, "Be careful not to say anything to Jacob, either good or bad." Jacob had pitched his tent in the hill country of Gilead when Laban overtook him, and Laban and his relatives camped there too. Then Laban said to Jacob, "What have you done? You've deceived me, and you've carried off my daughters like captives in war. Why did you run off secretly and deceive me? Why didn't you tell me, so I could send you away with joy and singing to the music of tambourines and harps? You didn't even let me kiss my grandchildren and my daughters good-by. You have done a foolish thing. I have the power to harm you; but last night the God of your father said to me, 'Be careful not to say anything to Jacob, either good or bad.' Now you have gone off because you longed to return to your father's house. But why did you steal my gods?"

Genesis 31:14-21

Then Jacob put his children and his wives on camels, and he drove all his livestock ahead of him, along with all the goods he had accumulated in Paddan Aram, to go to his father Isaac in the land of Canaan. When Laban had gone to shear his sheep, Rachel stole her father's household gods. Moreover, Jacob deceived Laban the Aramean by not telling him he was running away.So he fled with all he had, and crossing the River, he headed for the hill country of Gilead.

Genesis 31:7-13

So God has taken away your father's livestock and has given them to me. "In breeding season I once had a dream in which I looked up and saw that the male goats mating with the flock were streaked, speckled or spotted. The angel of God said to me in the dream, 'Jacob.' I answered, 'Here I am.' And he said, 'Look up and see that all the male goats mating with the flock are streaked, speckled or spotted, for I have seen all that Laban has been doing to you. I am the God of Bethel, where you anointed a pillar and where you made a vow to me. Now leave this land at once and go back to your native land.' "

Genesis 31:1-6

So Jacob sent word to Rachel and Leah to come out to the fields where his flocks were. He said to them, "I see that your father's attitude toward me is not what it was before, but the God of my father has been with me.You know that I've worked for your father with all my strength,

Genesis 30:35-43

Jacob, however, took fresh-cut branches from poplar, almond and plane trees and made white stripes on them by peeling the bark and exposing the white inner wood of the branches. Then he placed the peeled branches in all the watering troughs, so that they would be directly in front of the flocks when they came to drink. When the flocks were in heat and came to drink, they mated in front of the branches. And they bore young that were streaked or speckled or spotted. Jacob set apart the young of the flock by themselves, but made the rest face the streaked and dark-colored animals that belonged to Laban. Thus he made separate flocks for himself and did not put them with Laban's animals. Whenever the stronger females were in heat, Jacob would place the branches in the troughs in front of the animals so they would mate near the branches, but if the animals were weak, he would not place them there. So the weak animals went to Laban and the strong ones to Jacob. In this way the man grew exceedingly prosperous and came to own large flocks, and maidservants and menservants, and camels and donkeys.

Genesis 30:24-34

"그러세. 자네가 말한 대로 하겠네." She named him Joseph, and said, "May the LORD add to me another son." After Rachel gave birth to Joseph, Jacob said to Laban, "Send me on my way so I can go back to my own homeland. Give me my wives and children, for whom I have served you, and I will be on my way. You know how much work I've done for you." But Laban said to him, "If I have found favor in your eyes, please stay. I have learned by divination that the LORD has blessed me because of you." He added, "Name your wages, and I will pay them." Jacob said to him, "You know how I have worked for you and how your livestock has fared under my care. The little you had before I came has increased greatly, and the LORD has blessed you wherever I have been. But now, when may I do something for my own household?" "What shall I give you?" he asked. "Don't give me anything," Jacob replied. "But if you will do this one thing for me, I will go on tending your flocks and watching over them: Let me go through all your flocks today and remove from them every speckled or spotted sheep, every dark-colored lamb and every spotted or speckled goat. They will be my wages. And my honesty will testify for me in the future, whenever you check on the wages you have paid me. Any goat in my possession that is not speckled or spotted, or any lamb that is not dark-colored, will be considered stolen." "Agreed," said Laban. "Let it be as you have said."

Genesis 30:9-24

Leah's servant Zilpah bore Jacob a son.Then Leah said, "What good fortune!" So she named him Gad. Leah's servant Zilpah bore Jacob a second son. Then Leah said, "How happy I am! The women will call me happy." So she named him Asher. During wheat harvest, Reuben went out into the fields and found some mandrake plants, which he brought to his mother Leah. Rachel said to Leah, "Please give me some of your son's mandrakes." But she said to her, "Wasn't it enough that you took away my husband? Will you take my son's mandrakes too?" "Very well," Rachel said, "he can sleep with you tonight in return for your son's mandrakes."So when Jacob came in from the fields that evening, Leah went out to meet him. "You must sleep with me," she said. "I have hired you with my son's mandrakes." So he slept with her that night. God listened to Leah, and she became pregnant and bore Jacob a fifth son. Then Leah said, "God has rewarded me for giving my maidservant to my husband." So she named him Issachar. Leah conceived again and bore Jacob a sixth son. Then Leah said, "God has presented me with a precious gift. This time my husband will treat me with honor, because I have borne him six sons." So she named him Zebulun.Some time later she gave birth to a daughter and named her Dinah. Then God remembered Rachel; he listened to her and opened her womb. She became pregnant and gave birth to a son and said, "God has taken away my disgrace." She named him Joseph, and said, "May the LORD add to me another son."
