1 Peter 3:17-22

하나님께서 바라시는 뜻이라면, 선을 행하다가 고난을 받는 것이, 악을 행하다가 고난을 받는 것보다 낫습니다. 그리스도께서도 죄를 사하시려고 단 한 번 죽으셨습니다. 곧 의인이 불의한 사람을 위하여 죽으신 것입니다. 그것은 그가 육으로는 죽임을 당하시고 영으로는 살리심을 받으셔서 여러분을 하나님 앞으로 인도하시려는 것입니다. 그는 영으로, 옥에 있는 영들에게도 가셔서 선포하셨습니다. 그 영들은, 옛적에 노아가 방주를 지을 동안에, 곧 하나님께서 아직 참고 기다리실 때에, 순종하지 않던 자들을 말하는 것입니다. 그 방주에 들어가 물에서 구원받은 사람은 겨우 여덟 사람밖에 없었습니다.그 물은 지금 여러분을 구원하는 세례를 미리 보여준 것입니다. 세례는 육체의 더러움을 씻어 내는 것이 아니라, 예수 그리스도의 부활을 힘입어서 선한 양심이 하나님께 응답하는 것입니다. 그리스도께서는 하늘로 가셔서 하나님의 오른쪽에 계시니, 천사들과 권세들과 능력들이 그에게 복종하고 있습니다.It is better, if it is God's will, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil. For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive by the Spirit, through whom also he went and preached to the spirits in prison who disobeyed long ago when God waited patiently in the days of Noah while the ark was being built. In it only a few people, eight in all, were saved through water,and this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also--not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a good conscience toward God. It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ, who has gone into heaven and is at God's right hand--with angels, authorities and powers in submission to him.
