1 Peter 4:12-19

사랑하는 여러분, 여러분을 시험하려고 시련의 불길이 여러분 가운데 일어나더라도, 무슨 이상한 일이나 생긴 것처럼 놀라지 마십시오. 그만큼 여러분은 그리스도의 고난에 동참하는 것이니, 기뻐하십시오. 그러면 그의 영광이 나타날 때에 여러분은 또한 기뻐 뛰며 즐거워하게 될 것입니다. 여러분이 그리스도의 이름으로 모욕을 당하면 복이 있습니다. 영광의 영 곧 하나님의 영이 여러분 위에 머물러 계시기 때문입니다. 여러분 가운데에 아무도 살인자나 도둑이나 악을 행하는 자나 남의 일을 간섭하는 자로서 고난을 당하는 일이 없도록 하십시오.그러나 그리스도인으로서 고난을 당하면 부끄러워하지 말고, 도리어 그 이름으로 하나님께 영광을 돌리십시오. 하나님의 집에서부터 심판을 시작할 때가 되었기 때문입니다. 심판이 우리에게서 먼저 시작되면, 하나님의 복음에 순종하지 않는 자들의 마지막이 어떠하겠습니까? "의인도 겨우 구원을 받으면, 경건하지 않은 자와 죄인은 어떻게 되겠습니까?" 그러므로 하나님의 뜻을 따라 고난을 받는 사람은, 선한 일을 하면서 자기의 영혼을 신실하신 조물주께 맡기십시오.Dear friends, do not be surprised at the painful trial you are suffering, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice that you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed. If you are insulted because of the name of Christ, you are blessed, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you. If you suffer, it should not be as a murderer or thief or any other kind of criminal, or even as a meddler.However, if you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but praise God that you bear that name. For it is time for judgment to begin with the family of God; and if it begins with us, what will the outcome be for those who do not obey the gospel of God? And, "If it is hard for the righteous to be saved, what will become of the ungodly and the sinner?" So then, those who suffer according to God's will should commit themselves to their faithful Creator and continue to do good.
