1 Kings 18 (성경통독): God vs. gods seems to be the theme today. We can see how the courageous and determined Elijah prevails and convinces everyone that “God is the true God! God is the true God!” We can also see that Elijah's ultimate purpose was to lift up the name of the true and only God, rather than being lifted up himself, as we can see in his prayers to God: "O God, God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, make it known right now that you are God in Israel, that I am your servant, and that I’m doing what I’m doing under your orders. Answer me, God; O answer me and reveal to this people that you are God, the true God, and that you are giving these people another chance at repentance.” At the same time, we can see that God is working with and through Elijah and strengthened him mightily, as the fire of God fell and burned up the offering, the wood, the stones, the dirt, and even the water in the trench. Furthermore, God also sent a huge cloudburst of rain.
