대제사장과 그의 지지자들인 사두개파 사람들이 모두 시기심이 가득 차서 들고일어나,
사도들을 잡아다가 옥에 가두었다.
그런데 밤에 주님의 천사가 감옥 문을 열고, 그들을 데리고 나와서 말하기를,
"가서, 성전에 서서, 이 생명의 말씀을 남김없이 백성에게 전하여라!" 하였다.17 Then the high priest and all his associates, who were members of the party of the Sadducees, were filled with jealousy. 18 They arrested the apostles and put them in the public jail. 19 But during the night an angel of the Lord opened the doors of the jail and brought them out. 20 “Go, stand in the temple courts,” he said, “and tell the people all about this new life.”
그래서 지금 내가 여러분에게 말씀드리는 바는 이것이오. 이 사람들에게서 손을 떼고, 이들을 그대로 내버려 두시오. 이 사람들의 이 계획이나 활동이 사람에게서 난 것이면 망할 것이요,
하나님에게서 난 것이면 여러분은 그것을 없애 버릴 수 없소. 도리어 여러분이 하나님을 대적하는 자가 될까봐 두렵소." 그들은 그의 말을 옳게 여겼다.Therefore, in the present case I advise you: Leave these men alone! Let them go! For if their purpose or activity is of human origin, it will fail.But if it is from God, you will not be able to stop these men; you will only find yourselves fighting against God."

In other words, it's literally impossible to stop the spread of the new life if it's from God. That's a fact that many high priest and all his high priests understood as well since they were ardent worshipers of God. The sad fact is that they were not able to see and accept the new life given by God through the disciples. We on the other hand, have to gracefully and thankfully receive the new life.
