이스라엘 자손이 가나안 땅에서 받은 유산을, 제사장 엘르아살과 눈의 아들 여호수아와 이스라엘 자손의 각 지파 우두머리들이 다음과 같이 분배하였다.주께서 모세에게 명령하신 대로, 그들은 제비를 뽑아,아홉 지파와 둘로 나뉜 한 지파의 반쪽에게 땅을 유산으로 나누어 주었다.모세가 이미 요단 강 동쪽에서, 두 지파와 둘로 나뉜 한 지파의 반쪽에게 땅을 유산으로 주었으나, 레위 지파에게는 분깃을 주지 않았다. 요셉 지파는 므낫세와 에브라임 두 지파로 갈리었다. 레위 지파에게는 거주할 여러 성읍과, 그들의 가축과 가축을 기를 목장 외에는 분깃을 주지 않았다. 이스라엘 자손은, 주께서 모세에게 명하신 대로, 그 땅을 나누었다.

I wonder why there was no equal share. For example, the Levites received no share of the land but only towns to live in... Anyway, we can see the settling of the twelve tribes in the land of Canaan under the leadership of Joshua. We can also see how our faithful Lord fulfills the promise He had made to Abraham. It's interesting to see the formation of a civilization through many wars, conflics and division of tribes. But we can also see how discerning and careful our Lord is, planning step by step, little by little. I pray that God will continuous work in our lives and that we will follow His guidance.
