Zechariah 7:8-14

주님께서 스가랴에게 말씀하셨다.
"나 만군의 주가 이렇게 말한다. 너희는 공정한 재판을 하여라. 서로 관용과 자비를 베풀어라.
과부와 고아와 나그네와 가난한 사람을 억누르지 말고, 동족끼리 해칠 생각을 하지 말아라."주님께서 이렇게 말씀하셨으나, 사람들은 듣지 않고, 등을 돌려 거역하였다. 귀를 막고 들으려고도 하지 않았다.
사람들은 마음이 차돌처럼 굳어져서, 만군의 주님께서, 이전 예언자들에게 당신의 영을 부어 전하게 하신 율법과 말씀을 듣지 않았다. 그래서 만군의 주님께서 크게 노하셨다.
주님께서 부르셨으나, 그들은 듣지 않았다. "그렇다. 이제는 그들이 부르짖어도, 내가 결코 듣지 않겠다. 나 만군의 주가 말한다.
나는 그들이 알지도 못하는 모든 나라로, 그들을 폭풍으로 날리듯 흩었고, 그들이 떠난 땅은 아무도 오가는 사람이 없어서, 폐허가 되고 말았다. 그들이 아름다운 이 땅을 거친 땅으로 만들었다."And the word of the LORD came again to Zechariah:
"This is what the LORD Almighty says: 'Administer true justice; show mercy and compassion to one another.
Do not oppress the widow or the fatherless, the alien or the poor. In your hearts do not think evil of each other.'"But they refused to pay attention; stubbornly they turned their backs and stopped up their ears.
They made their hearts as hard as flint and would not listen to the law or to the words that the LORD Almighty had sent by his Spirit through the earlier prophets. So the LORD Almighty was very angry.
" 'When I called, they did not listen; so when they called, I would not listen,' says the LORD Almighty.
'I scattered them with a whirlwind among all the nations, where they were strangers. The land was left so desolate behind them that no one could come or go. This is how they made the pleasant land desolate.' "
