들짐승과 새와 기는 짐승과 바다의 생물들은 어떤 종류든지 모두 사람이 길들이고 있으며 길들여 놓았습니다.
그러나 사람의 혀를 길들일 수 있는 사람은 아무도 없습니다. 혀는 겉잡을 수 없는 악이며, 죽음에 이르게 하는 독으로 가득 차 있습니다. 우리는 이 혀로 주님이신 아버지를 찬양하기도 하고, 또 이 혀로 하나님의 형상대로 지음을 받은 사람들을 저주하기도 합니다. 또 같은 입에서 찬양도 나오고 저주도 나옵니다. 나의 형제자매 여러분, 이렇게 해서는 안됩니다.샘이 한 구멍에서 단 물과 쓴 물을 낼 수 있겠습니까? 나의 형제자매 여러분, 무화과나무가 올리브 열매를 맺거나, 포도나무가 무화과 열매를 맺을 수 있겠습니까? 마찬가지로 짠 샘은 단 물을 낼 수 없습니다.All kinds of animals, birds, reptiles and creatures of the sea are being tamed and have been tamed by man, but no man can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison. With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in God's likeness. Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers, this should not be.Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring? My brothers, can a fig tree bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Neither can a salt spring produce fresh water.

주님, 순간 순간 내 입에서 나오는 말을 잘 다시를수 있도록 도와주세요. 제 마음을 만져주시고 악하고 남을 저주하는 마음을 품지 않게 하시고 더욱 더 사랑으로 채워주시기를 기도합니다.
