Gensis 9:12-17

하나님이 말씀하셨다. "내가, 너희 및 너희와 함께 있는 숨쉬는 모든 생물 사이에 대대로 세우는 언약의 표는, 바로 무지개이다. 내가 무지개를 구름 속에 둘 터이니, 이것이 나와 땅 사이에 세우는 언약의 표가 될 것이다. 내가 구름을 일으켜서 땅을 덮을 때마다, 무지개가 구름 사이에서 나타나면, 나는, 너희와 숨쉬는 모든 짐승 곧 살과 피가 있는 모든 것과 더불어 세운 그 언약을 기억하고, 다시는 홍수를 일으켜서 살과 피가 있는 모든 것을 물로 멸하지 않겠다. 무지개가 구름 사이에서 나타날 때마다, 내가 그것을 보고, 나 하나님이, 살아 숨쉬는 모든 것들 곧 땅 위에 있는 살과 피를 지닌 모든 것과 세운 영원한 언약을 기억하겠다." 하나님이 노아에게 말씀하셨다. "이것이, 내가, 땅 위의 살과 피를 지닌 모든 것과 더불어 세운 언약의 표다." And God said, "This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come: I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life. Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth." So God said to Noah, "This is the sign of the covenant I have established between me and all life on the earth."
