"Simon, Simon...but I have prayed for you, that your faith may not fail; and you, when once you have turned again, strengthen your brothers."... How disheartening and disbelieving these statements must have been for Simon Peter. At this point, Simon insisted that he is ready to go with Jesus to prison and to death, not realizing the frailty of the human nature. Although the willingness was there, he was not able to hold on to this commitment when the time came. How heartbroken and terrible Simon must have felt when the rooster crowed three times since he went outside and wept bitterly afterward. But I believe Jesus knew Simon Peter's genuine belief and his passion to follow Him so that He gave him another chance.
