1 Chronicles 19 (성경통독): David only had good intentions by wanting to show some kindness to Hanun son of Nahash (of the Ammonites) —treat him as well and as kindly as his father treated him.” So David sent condolences about his father’s death. But instead of treating David's messengers fairly, Hanun seized David’s men, shaved them clean, cut off their robes half way up their buttocks, and sent them packing....which was humiliating. This eventually caused the war between Israel vs. Arameans/Ammonites. David killed seven thousand chariot drivers and forty thousand infantry. He also killed Shophach, the army commander. When all the kings who were vassals of Hadadezer saw that they had been routed by Israel, they made peace with David and served him. The Arameans were afraid to help the Ammonites ever again... So we can see how the Spirit of God continues to rest with David and He gives him victory after victory whomever he fought. Was it due to God's promise to David's forefathers or was it due to the fact that David was “a Man After God’s Own Heart”?
