Luke 16:19-24

"어떤 부자가 있었는데, 그는 자색 옷과 고운 베옷을 입고, 날마다 즐겁고 호화롭게 살았다. 그런데 그 집 대문 앞에는 나사로라 하는 거지 하나가 헌데 투성이 몸으로 누워서,그 부자의 상에서 떨어지는 부스러기로 배를 채우려고 하였다. 개들까지도 와서, 그의 헌데를 핥았다. 그러다가, 그 거지는 죽어서 천사들에게 이끌려 가서 아브라함의 품에 안기었고, 그 부자도 죽어서 묻히었다. 부자가 지옥에서 고통을 당하다가 눈을 들어서 보니, 멀리 아브라함이 보이고, 그의 품에 나사로가 있었다. 그래서 그가 소리를 질러 말하기를 '아브라함 조상님, 나를 불쌍히 여겨 주십시오. 나사로를 보내서, 그 손가락 끝에 물을 찍어서 내 혀를 시원하게 하도록 하여 주십시오. 나는 이 불 속에서 몹시 고통을 당하고 있습니다' 하였다."There was a rich man who was dressed in purple and fine linen and lived in luxury every day. At his gate was laid a beggar named Lazarus, covered with sores and longing to eat what fell from the rich man's table. Even the dogs came and licked his sores. "The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham's side. The rich man also died and was buried. In hell, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. So he called to him, 'Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.'
