James 5:7-12

그러므로 형제자매 여러분, 주님께서 오실 때까지 참고 견디십시오. 보십시오, 농부는 이른 비와 늦은 비가 땅에 내리기까지 오래 참으며, 땅의 귀한 소출을 기다립니다. 여러분도 참으십시오. 마음을 굳게 하십시오. 주님께서 오실 때가 가깝습니다. 형제자매 여러분, 심판을 받지 않으려거든, 서로 원망하지 마십시오. 보십시오, 심판하실 분께서 이미 문 앞에 서 계십니다. 형제자매 여러분, 주님의 이름으로 예언한 예언자들을 고난과 인내의 본보기로 삼으십시오.보십시오. 참고 견딘 사람은 복되다고 우리는 생각합니다. 여러분은 욥이 어떻게 참고 견디었는지를 들었고, 또 주님께서 나중에 그에게 어떻게 하셨는지를 알고 있습니다. 주님은 가여워하시는 마음이 넘치고, 불쌍히 여기시는 마음이 크십니다. 나의 형제자매 여러분, 무엇보다도 맹세하지 마십시오. 하늘이나 땅이나 그 밖에 무엇을 두고도 맹세하지 마십시오. 다만, "예" 해야 할 경우에는 오직 "예"라고만 하고, "아니오" 해야 할 경우에는 오직 "아니오"라고만 하십시오. 그렇게 해야 여러분은 심판을 받지 않을 것입니다.Be patient, then, brothers, until the Lord's coming. See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop and how patient he is for the autumn and spring rains. You too, be patient and stand firm, because the Lord's coming is near. Don't grumble against each other, brothers, or you will be judged. The Judge is standing at the door! Brothers, as an example of patience in the face of suffering, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord.As you know, we consider blessed those who have persevered. You have heard of Job's perseverance and have seen what the Lord finally brought about. The Lord is full of compassion and mercy. Above all, my brothers, do not swear--not by heaven or by earth or by anything else. Let your "Yes" be yes, and your "No," no, or you will be condemned.
