Mark 5:1-13

그들은 바다 건너편 거라사 사람들의 지역으로 갔다. 예수께서 배에서 내리시니, 곧 악한 귀신 들린 사람 하나가 무덤 사이에서 나와서, 예수와 만났다. 그는 무덤 사이에서 사는데, 이제는 아무도 그를 쇠사슬로도 묶어 둘 수 없었다. 여러 번 쇠고랑과 쇠사슬로 묶어 두었으나, 그는 쇠사슬도 끊고 쇠고랑도 부수었다. 아무도 그를 휘어잡을 수 없었다. 그는 밤낮 무덤 사이나 산 속에서 살면서, 소리를 질러 대고, 돌로 제 몸에 상처를 내곤 하였다. 그가 멀리서 예수를 보고, 달려와 엎드려서 큰소리로 외쳤다. "더 없이 높으신 하나님의 아들 예수님, 나와 무슨 상관이 있습니까? 하나님을 두고 애원합니다. 제발 나를 괴롭히지 마십시오." 그것은 예수께서 이미 그에게 "악한 귀신아, 그 사람에게서 나가라" 하고 명하셨기 때문이다. 예수께서 그에게 물으셨다. "네 이름이 무엇이냐?" 그가 대답하였다. "군대입니다. 우리의 수가 많기 때문에 붙여진 이름입니다." 그리고는, 자기들을 그 지역에서 내쫓지 말아 달라고 예수께 간청하였다. 마침 그 곳 산기슭에 놓아 기르는 큰 돼지 떼가 있었다. 귀신들이 예수께 간청하였다. "우리를 돼지들에게로 보내셔서, 그것들 속으로 들어가게 해주십시오." 예수께서 허락하시니, 악한 귀신들이 나와서, 돼지들 속으로 들어갔다. 거의 이천 마리나 되는 돼지 떼가 바다 쪽으로 비탈을 내리달아, 바다에 빠져 죽었다. They went across the lake to the region of the Gerasenes. When Jesus got out of the boat, a man with an evil spirit came from the tombs to meet him. This man lived in the tombs, and no one could bind him any more, not even with a chain. For he had often been chained hand and foot, but he tore the chains apart and broke the irons on his feet. No one was strong enough to subdue him. Night and day among the tombs and in the hills he would cry out and cut himself with stones.When he saw Jesus from a distance, he ran and fell on his knees in front of him. He shouted at the top of his voice, "What do you want with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? Swear to God that you won't torture me!" For Jesus had said to him, "Come out of this man, you evil spirit!" Then Jesus asked him, "What is your name?" "My name is Legion," he replied, "for we are many." And he begged Jesus again and again not to send them out of the area. A large herd of pigs was feeding on the nearby hillside. The demons begged Jesus, "Send us among the pigs; allow us to go into them." He gave them permission, and the evil spirits came out and went into the pigs. The herd, about two thousand in number, rushed down the steep bank into the lake and were drowned.
