Revelation 18:9-20

그 도시와 더불어 음행을 하고 방탕한 생활을 한 세상의 왕들은, 그 도시를 태우는 불의 연기를 보고, 그 도시를 두고 울며, 가슴을 칠 것입니다. 그들은 그 도시가 당하는 고문이 두려워서, 멀리 서서, "화를 입었다. 화를 입었다. 큰 도시야! 이 강한 도시 바빌론아! 너에게 심판이 한 순간에 닥쳤구나" 하고 말할 것입니다.그리고 세상의 상인들도 그 도시를 두고 울며, 슬퍼할 것입니다. 이제는 그들의 상품을 살 사람이 하나도 없기 때문입니다. 그 상품이란, 금과 은과 보석과 진주요, 고운 모시와 자주 옷감과 비단과 붉은 옷감이요, 각종 향나무와 각종 상아 기구와, 값진 나무나 구리나 쇠나 대리석으로 만든 온갖 그릇이요, 계피와 향료와 향과 몰약과 유향이요, 포도주와 올리브 기름과 밀가루와 밀이요, 소와 양과 말과 병거와 노예와 사람의 목숨입니다. 네가 마음 속으로 탐하던 실과가 네게서 사라지고, 온갖 화려하고 찬란한 것들이 네게서 없어졌으니, 다시는 아무도 그런 것들을 찾아볼 수 없을 것이다. 그 도시 때문에 부자가 된, 이런 상품을 파는 상인들은, 그 도시가 당하는 고문이 두려워서, 멀리 서서 울며 슬퍼하면서,말하기를, "화를 입었다. 화를 입었다. 고운 모시 옷과 자주색 옷과 빨간색 옷을 입고 금과 보석과 진주로 꾸민 큰 도시야, 그렇게도 많던 재물이 한 순간에 잿더미가 되고 말았구나"할 것입니다. 또 모든 선장과 선객과 선원과 바다에서 일하는 사람들도 다 멀리 서서, 그 도시를 태우는 불의 연기를 보고 "저렇게 큰 도시가 또 어디 있겠는가!" 하고 외칠 것입니다. 그리고 그들은 머리에 먼지를 뿌리고, 슬피 울면서, "화를 입었다. 화를 입었다. 큰 도시야! 바다에 배를 가진 사람은 모두 그 도시의 값진 상품으로 부자가 되었건만, 그것이 한 순간에 잿더미가 되고 말았구나!" 하고 부르짖었습니다. 하늘과 성도들과 사도들과 예언자들이여, 즐거워하십시오. 하나님께서는 그대들을 위하여 그 도시를 심판하셨습니다."When the kings of the earth who committed adultery with her and shared her luxury see the smoke of her burning, they will weep and mourn over her. Terrified at her torment, they will stand far off and cry: " 'Woe! Woe, O great city, O Babylon, city of power! In one hour your doom has come!'"The merchants of the earth will weep and mourn over her because no one buys their cargoes any more-- cargoes of gold, silver, precious stones and pearls; fine linen, purple, silk and scarlet cloth; every sort of citron wood, and articles of every kind made of ivory, costly wood, bronze, iron and marble; cargoes of cinnamon and spice, of incense, myrrh and frankincense, of wine and olive oil, of fine flour and wheat; cattle and sheep; horses and carriages; and bodies and souls of men. "They will say, 'The fruit you longed for is gone from you. All your riches and splendor have vanished, never to be recovered.' The merchants who sold these things and gained their wealth from her will stand far off, terrified at her torment. They will weep and mournand cry out: " 'Woe! Woe, O great city, dressed in fine linen, purple and scarlet, and glittering with gold, precious stones and pearls! In one hour such great wealth has been brought to ruin!' "Every sea captain, and all who travel by ship, the sailors, and all who earn their living from the sea, will stand far off. When they see the smoke of her burning, they will exclaim, 'Was there ever a city like this great city?' They will throw dust on their heads, and with weeping and mourning cry out: " 'Woe! Woe, O great city, where all who had ships on the sea became rich through her wealth! In one hour she has been brought to ruin! Rejoice over her, O heaven! Rejoice, saints and apostles and prophets! God has judged her for the way she treated you.' "
