Titus 1:10-16

복종하지 아니하며 헛된 말을 하며 속이는 사람이 많이 있는데, 특히 할례를 받은 사람 가운데 많이 있습니다.그들의 입을 막아야 합니다. 그들은 부정한 이득을 얻으려고, 가르쳐서는 안 되는 것을 가르치면서, 가정들을 온통 뒤엎습니다. 크레타 사람 가운데서 예언자라 하는 어떤 사람이 말하기를 "크레타 사람은 예나 지금이나 거짓말쟁이요, 악한 짐승이요, 먹는 것밖에 모르는 게으름뱅이다" 하였습니다. 이 증언은 참말입니다. 그러므로 그들을 엄중히 책망하여, 그들의 믿음을 건전하게 하고, 유대 사람의 허망한 이야기나 진리를 배반하는 사람들의 명령에 귀를 기울이지 못하게 하십시오. 깨끗한 사람에게는 모든 것이 깨끗합니다. 그러나 믿지 않는 더러운 사람에게는, 깨끗한 것이라고는 하나도 없습니다. 도리어, 그들의 생각과 양심도 더러워졌습니다.그들은 입으로는 하나님을 안다고 말하지만, 행동으로는 부인하고 있습니다. 그들은 가증하고 완고한 자들이어서, 전혀 선한 일을 하지 못합니다.For there are many rebellious people, mere talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision group.They must be silenced, because they are ruining whole households by teaching things they ought not to teach--and that for the sake of dishonest gain. Even one of their own prophets has said, "Cretans are always liars, evil brutes, lazy gluttons." This testimony is true. Therefore, rebuke them sharply, so that they will be sound in the faith and will pay no attention to Jewish myths or to the commands of those who reject the truth. To the pure, all things are pure, but to those who are corrupted and do not believe, nothing is pure. In fact, both their minds and consciences are corrupted.They claim to know God, but by their actions they deny him. They are detestable, disobedient and unfit for doing anything good.
