Luke 1:67-80

요한의 아버지 사가랴가 성령으로 충만하여, 이렇게 예언하였다. "주 이스라엘의 하나님은 찬양받으실 분이시다. 그는 자기 백성을 돌보아 속량하시고, 우리를 위하여 능력 있는 구원자를 자기의 종 다윗의 집에 일으키셨다. 예로부터 자기의 거룩한 예언자들의 입으로 주님께서 말씀하신 대로우리를 원수들에게서 구원하시고, 우리를 미워하는 모든 사람들의 손에서 건져내셨다. 주님께서 우리 조상에게 자비를 베푸시고, 자기의 거룩한 언약을 기억하셨다. 이것은 주님께서 우리에게 주시려고 우리 조상 아브라함에게 하신 맹세이니, 우리를 원수들의 손에서 건져주셔서 두려움이 없이 주님을 섬기게 하시고, 우리가 평생 동안 주님 앞에서 거룩하고 의롭게 살아가게 하셨다.아가야, 너는 더없이 높으신 분의 예언자라 불릴 것이니, 주님보다 앞서 가서 그의 길을 예비하고, 죄 사함을 받아서 구원을 얻는 지식을 그의 백성에게 가르쳐 줄 것이다. 이것은 우리 하나님의 자비로운 심정에서 오는 것이다. 그는 해를 하늘 높이 뜨게 하셔서, 어둠 속과 죽음의 그늘 아래에 앉아 있는 사람들에게 빛을 비추게 하시고, 우리의 발을 평화의 길로 인도하실 것이다." 아기는 자라서, 심령이 굳세어졌다. 그는 이스라엘 백성 앞에 나타나는 날까지 광야에서 살았다.His father Zechariah was filled with the Holy Spirit and prophesied: "Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel, because he has come and has redeemed his people. He has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David (as he said through his holy prophets of long ago),salvation from our enemies and from the hand of all who hate us-- to show mercy to our fathers and to remember his holy covenant, the oath he swore to our father Abraham: to rescue us from the hand of our enemies, and to enable us to serve him without fear in holiness and righteousness before him all our days.And you, my child, will be called a prophet of the Most High; for you will go on before the Lord to prepare the way for him, to give his people the knowledge of salvation through the forgiveness of their sins, because of the tender mercy of our God, by which the rising sun will come to us from heaven to shine on those living in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the path of peace." And the child grew and became strong in spirit; and he lived in the desert until he appeared publicly to Israel.
