Luke 3:1-6

디베료 황제가 왕위에 오른 지 열다섯째 해에, 곧 본디오 빌라도가 총독으로 유대를 통치하고, 헤롯이 분봉왕으로 갈릴리를 다스리고, 그의 동생 빌립이 분봉왕으로 이두래와 드라고닛 지방을 다스리고, 루사니아가 분봉왕으로 아빌레네를 다스리고, 안나스와 가야바가 대제사장으로 있을 때에, 하나님의 말씀이 광야에 있는 사가랴의 아들 요한에게 내렸다. 요한은 요단 강 주변 온 지역을 찾아가서, 죄사함을 받게 하는 회개의 세례를 선포하였다. 그것은 이사야의 예언서에 적혀 있는 대로였다. "광야에서 외치는 이의 소리가 있다. 너희는 주님의 길을 예비하고, 그 길을 곧게 하여라. 모든 골짜기는 메우고, 모든 산과 언덕은 평평하게 하고, 굽은 것은 곧게 하고, 험한 길은 평탄하게 해야 할 것이니,모든 사람이 하나님의 구원을 보게 될 것이다."In the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar--when Pontius Pilate was governor of Judea, Herod tetrarch of Galilee, his brother Philip tetrarch of Iturea and Traconitis, and Lysanias tetrarch of Abilene-- during the high priesthood of Annas and Caiaphas, the word of God came to John son of Zechariah in the desert. He went into all the country around the Jordan, preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. As is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet: "A voice of one calling in the desert, 'Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for him. Every valley shall be filled in, every mountain and hill made low. The crooked roads shall become straight, the rough ways smooth.And all mankind will see God's salvation.' "
