Genesis 26:12-22

이삭이 그 땅에서 농사를 지어서, 그 해에 백 배의 수확을 거두어들였다. 주님께서 그에게 복을 주셨기 때문이다. 그는 부자가 되었다. 재산이 점점 늘어서, 아주 부유하게 되었다. 그가 양 떼와 소 떼, 남종과 여종을 많이 거느리게 되니, 블레셋 사람들이 그를 시기하기 시작하였다. 그래서 그들은 이삭의 아버지 아브라함 때에 아브라함의 종들이 판 모든 우물을 막고, 흙으로 메워 버렸다.아비멜렉이 이삭에게 말하였다. "우리에게서 떠나가시오. 이제 당신은 우리보다 훨씬 강하오." 이삭은 그 곳을 떠나서, 그랄 평원에다가 장막을 치고서, 거기에 자리를 잡고 살았다. 이삭은 자기 아버지 아브라함 때에 팠던 우물들을 다시 팠다. 이 우물들은, 아브라함이 죽자, 블레셋 사람들이 메워 버린 것들이다. 이삭은 그 우물들을 그의 아버지 아브라함이 부르던 이름 그대로 불렀다. 이삭의 종들이 그랄 평원에서 우물을 파다가, 물이 솟아나는 샘줄기를 찾아냈다. 샘이 터지는 바람에, 그랄 지방 목자들이 그 샘줄기를 자기들의 것이라고 주장하면서, 이삭의 목자들과 다투었다. 우물을 두고서 다투었다고 해서, 이삭은 이 우물을 에섹이라고 불렀다.이삭의 종들이 또 다른 우물을 팠는데, 그랄 지방 목자들이 또 시비를 걸었다. 그래서 이삭은 그 우물 이름을 싯나라고 하였다. 이삭이 거기에서 옮겨서, 또 다른 우물을 팠는데, 그 때에는 아무도 시비를 걸지 않았다. 그래서 그는 "이제 주님께서 우리가 살 곳을 넓히셨으니, 여기에서 우리가 번성하게 되었다" 하면서, 그 우물 이름을 르호봇이라고 하였다.Isaac planted crops in that land and the same year reaped a hundredfold, because the LORD blessed him. The man became rich, and his wealth continued to grow until he became very wealthy. He had so many flocks and herds and servants that the Philistines envied him. So all the wells that his father's servants had dug in the time of his father Abraham, the Philistines stopped up, filling them with earth.Then Abimelech said to Isaac, "Move away from us; you have become too powerful for us." So Isaac moved away from there and encamped in the Valley of Gerar and settled there. Isaac reopened the wells that had been dug in the time of his father Abraham, which the Philistines had stopped up after Abraham died, and he gave them the same names his father had given them. Isaac's servants dug in the valley and discovered a well of fresh water there. But the herdsmen of Gerar quarreled with Isaac's herdsmen and said, "The water is ours!" So he named the well Esek, because they disputed with him.Then they dug another well, but they quarreled over that one also; so he named it Sitnah. He moved on from there and dug another well, and no one quarreled over it. He named it Rehoboth, saying, "Now the LORD has given us room and we will flourish in the land."
