Chapter 14: We can see bitter ongoing battles between the Israelite and the Philistines. Though Jonathan sinned against God by eating honey on a day when nobody was supposed to eat anything, God still seems to allow the Israelite to move forward in their battles against the Philistines.

Chapter 15: And the Lord regretted that he had made Saul king over Israel.... it shows again that too much power for a person can be harmful as in the case of Saul. He should have sought wisdom from God for discernment rather than planning out and thinking everything by himself. If Saul had not pounced on the plunder and had done evil in the eyes of the Lord, the Lord would not have rejected him.

Chapter 16: What is God's selection criteria when it comes to choosing the right king? "The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” Apparently, David had the right heart before God and therefore, the Spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon David. I also pray that I have the right heart before God. Amen!
