Jeremiah 43: Johanan son of Kareah and the army officers, and the people along with them, wouldn’t listen to God’s Message that they stay in the land of Judah and live there. Instead they went to Egypt which tremendously angered the Lord. As a consequence, He warns them that He would be sending for and bringing Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon—my servant, who will smash Egypt, sending each to his assigned fate: death, exile, slaughter. This is the result of their foolish disobedience to the Lord.
Jeremiah 44: "We had a good life then—lots of food, rising standard of living, and no bad luck." So we can see the thoughts of the men and women keep on sinning by giving sacrifices to the queen of heaven. Apparently, they are lured into thinking that worshiping the idol god led them to have a good life. But we have to remember that believing in the Lord is not about luck or prosperity. The Lord wants a father-son/daughter relationship with His people rather than being remembered just a provider of goods.
Jeremiah 45: Although there is destruction ahead of the disobedient people in the land of Egypt, there will eventually be good times coming and God assures Jeremiah that He will keep him alive through the whole time which is assuring and comforting.
