Genesis 17:6-9

내가 너를 크게 번성하게 하겠다. 너에게서 여러 민족이 나오고, 너에게서 왕들도 나올 것이다. 내가 너와 세우는 언약은, 나와 너 사이에 맺는 것일 뿐 아니라, 너의 뒤에 오는 너의 자손과도 대대로 세우는 영원한 언약이다. 이 언약을 따라서, 나는, 너의 하나님이 될 뿐만 아니라, 뒤에 오는 너의 자손의 하나님도 될 것이다. 네가 지금 나그네로 사는 이 가나안 땅을, 너와 네 뒤에 오는 자손에게 영원한 소유로 모두 주고, 나는 그들의 하나님이 될 것이다." 하나님이 또 아브라함에게 말씀하셨다. "너는 나와 세운 언약을 잘 지켜야 하고, 네 뒤에 오는 너의 자손도 대대로 이 언약을 잘 지켜야 한다. I will make you very fruitful; I will make nations of you, and kings will come from you. I will establish my covenant as an everlasting covenant between me and you and your descendants after you for the generations to come, to be your God and the God of your descendants after you. The whole land of Canaan, where you are now an alien, I will give as an everlasting possession to you and your descendants after you; and I will be their God." Then God said to Abraham, "As for you, you must keep my covenant, you and your descendants after you for the generations to come.
