Mark 14:27-31

You will all fall away," Jesus told them, "for it is written: " 'I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered.' But after I have risen, I will go ahead of you into Galilee." Peter declared, "Even if all fall away, I will not." "I tell you the truth," Jesus answered, "today--yes, tonight--before the rooster crows twice you yourself will disown me three times."But Peter insisted emphatically, "Even if I have to die with you, I will never disown you." And all the others said the same.

We always need to be careful with our word choices when we approach others. When we reach out to our Lord with all our heart and mind, God's wants us to be honest and open-hearted. In the case of Peter and the disciples, they really had the heart and love for Christ and they were willing to go with Him until the end and they expressed their hearts verbally. If our Lord Jesus is only a human, He then would have been disappointed by our frailty and weak determination. But our Lord Christ knows our human weaknesses and He forgives our sins if we openly reach out to Him, acknowledging our sinfulness.
