Psalm 137: This song reflects Israel's earnest longing for Jerusalem while being held captive as slaves in Babylon. While being away in a foreign land, the longing for Zion was great and it was David's earnest prayer to restore God's love to His people.
Psalm 138: The Lord surely does not abandon the works of His hands. Though He seems far away, he is close with us in His spirit. When we call Him, He will answer. God truly "emboldens" us so we can live our lives confidently in Him.
Psalm 139: Truly, there is nothing we can hide from the Lord since He knows our innermost thoughts and words. He knows all my ways and methods so I should not hide anything from Him. "Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me..." I pray that I can openly say this prayer to the Lord. As of now, I still have too much to hide from the Lord...
Psalm 140: Surely, the arrogant and wicked people who devise ways to trip David have no fear of the Lord and do not seek His mercy. But we should keep in mind that the Lord secures justice for the poor and needy and that He will deal with the evildoers and violent people justly as He sees the need.
