Exodus 21: It's interesting to see sets of rules within the society of the people of Israel. Especially rules and commands concerning slaves strike my eyes since though they are human beings, yet they are being treated no better than animals.
Exodus 22: For any sins committed, the consequences were either death penalty or compensation for any damages incurred/restitution. As harsh as some of these rules appear to be, it says toward near the end that the Lord is compassionate and commands us to "be holy for His sake."
