Genesis 17: God promises golden times ahead did Abraham and his descendants. But He would establish His covenant with Isaac (instead of Ishmael) whom Sarah would give him about this time next year. Further, God commands Abraham to honor His covenant given to him and his descendants, generation after generation. This was the covenant that Abraham was to honor, the covenant that pulled in all his descendants: Circumcise every male.
Genesis 18: When the three visitors came and fold Abraham that he and Sarah would have a son by next year, Sarah laughed In the back. But when being approached, Sarah lied. She said, “I didn’t laugh,” because she was afraid. But one of the visitors said, “Yes you did; you laughed.” Further in this chapter, we can see how Abraham pleads with God about Sodom and asks to spare the city if there decent people left.
