1 Thessalonians 1:6-10

여러분은 많은 환난을 당하면서도 성령께서 주시는 기쁨으로 말씀을 받아들여서, 우리와 주님을 본받는 사람이 되었습니다. 그리하여 여러분은 마케도니아와 아가야에 있는 모든 신도들에게 모범이 되었습니다. 주님의 말씀이 여러분으로부터 마케도니아와 아가야에만 울려 퍼진 것이 아니라, 하나님을 향한 여러분의 믿음에 대한 소문이 각처에 두루 퍼졌습니다. 그러므로 이것을 두고는 우리가 더 말할 필요가 없습니다. 그들은 우리를 두고 이야기합니다. 우리가 여러분을 찾아갔을 때에 여러분이 우리를 어떻게 영접했는지, 어떻게 해서 여러분이, 우상을 버리고 하나님께로 돌아와서 살아 계시고 참되신 하나님을 섬기며, 또 하나님께서 죽은 사람들 가운데서 살리신 그 아들 곧 장차 내릴 진노에서 우리를 건져 주실 예수께서 하늘로부터 오시기를 기다리는지를, 그들은 말합니다. You became imitators of us and of the Lord; in spite of severe suffering, you welcomed the message with the joy given by the Holy Spirit. And so you became a model to all the believers in Macedonia and Achaia. The Lord's message rang out from you not only in Macedonia and Achaia--your faith in God has become known everywhere. Therefore we do not need to say anything about it, for they themselves report what kind of reception you gave us. They tell how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God, and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead--Jesus, who rescues us from the coming wrath.
