1 Timothy 1:6-11

그런데 몇몇 사람은 이러한 목적에서 벗어나서 쓸데없는 토론에 빠졌습니다. 그들은 율법교사가 되려고 하지만, 사실은 자기들이 무엇을 말하고 있는지 또는 무엇을 주장하고 있는지도 알지 못합니다. 우리가 알기로 율법은, 사람이 그것을 적법하게 사용하면, 선한 것입니다. 율법이 제정된 것은, 의로운 사람 때문이 아니라, 법을 어기는 자와, 순종하지 않는 자와, 경건하지 않은 자와, 죄인과, 거룩하지 않은 자와, 속된 자와, 아비를 살해하는 자와, 어미를 살해하는 자와, 살인자와, 간음하는 자와, 남색하는 자와, 사람을 유괴하는 자와, 거짓말하는 자와, 거짓 맹세를 하는 자와, 그 밖에도, 무엇이든지 건전한 교훈에 배치되는 일 때문임을 우리는 압니다. 건전한 교훈은, 복되신 하나님의 영광스러운 복음에 맞는 것이어야 합니다. 나는 이 복음을 선포할 임무를 맡았습니다.Some have wandered away from these and turned to meaningless talk. They want to be teachers of the law, but they do not know what they are talking about or what they so confidently affirm. We know that the law is good if one uses it properly. We also know that law is made not for the righteous but for lawbreakers and rebels, the ungodly and sinful, the unholy and irreligious; for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers, for adulterers and perverts, for slave traders and liars and perjurers--and for whatever else is contrary to the sound doctrine that conforms to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which he entrusted to me.
