1 Timothy 3:8-13

이와 같이 집사들도, 신중하며, 한 입으로 두 말을 하지 아니하며, 술에 탐닉하지 아니하며, 부정한 이득을 탐내지 아니하며, 믿음의 비밀을 깨끗한 양심에 간직한 사람이라야 합니다. 이런 사람들을 먼저 시험하여 보고, 책망 받을 일이 없으면, 집사의 일을 하게 하십시오. 이와 같이 여자들도, 신중하며, 험담하지 아니하며, 절제하며, 모든 일에 성실한 사람이라야 합니다. 집사들은 한 아내의 남편이며, 자녀와 자기 가정을 잘 다스리는 사람이라야 합니다. 집사의 직무를 잘 수행한 사람들은 좋은 지위를 얻게 되고, 그리스도 예수를 믿는 믿음에 큰 확신을 얻게 됩니다. Deacons, likewise, are to be men worthy of respect, sincere, not indulging in much wine, and not pursuing dishonest gain. They must keep hold of the deep truths of the faith with a clear conscience. They must first be tested; and then if there is nothing against them, let them serve as deacons. In the same way, their wives are to be women worthy of respect, not malicious talkers but temperate and trustworthy in everything. A deacon must be the husband of but one wife and must manage his children and his household well. Those who have served well gain an excellent standing and great assurance in their faith in Christ Jesus.
