2 Kings 13: But the Lord was gracious to the Israelite and had compassion and showed concern for them because of his covenant with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob...And according to the prophecy of Elisha, the Lord’s arrow of victory, the arrow of victory would bring delivery over Aram!
2 Kings 14: The Lord had seen how bitterly everyone in Israel, whether slave or free, was suffering...And since the Lord had not said he would blot out the name of Israel from under heaven, he saved them... We can see the compassionate side of God in the OT as well. I wonder why the successive kings did not learn from the mistakes of the predecessor kings. Why did they not remove the high places and stop offer sacrifices and burn offerings? They knew this would be evil in the eyes of the Lord.
2 Kings 15: Conspiracy, treason, attack, assassination... this cycle keeps repeating in the succession of kings throughout Israel and Judah. Why did the Lord allow all the bloodshed happen? Where is His love for the nations and people? I am sure the Lord's spirit and love were still with the people but I don't understand in my heart why God did all these endless slaughters to happen.
2 Kings 16: He offered sacrifices and burned incense at the high places, on the hilltops and under every spreading tree... God wants us to show true repentance by being obedient to His word of life rather than offering a ton of meaningless sacrifices and burned incense.
