Elijah and Obadiah (vs.1-15)

1 Kings 18: Finally, there is someone after God's own heart (Elijah) who carries out the will of God. He truly knows and understands that God detests idolatry and thus try to get rid of all prophets of Baal. One one hand, Elijah must have feared for his own life while carrying out God's order. But on the other, Elijah knew that the Lord is faithful and will provide and deliver as needed.
1 Kings 19: 14 Elijah replied, “I have been very zealous for the Lord God Almighty. The Israelites have rejected your covenant, torn down your altars, and put your prophets to death with the sword. I am the only one left, and now they are trying to kill me too.” Clearly, God knows Elijah's zeal and passion for the Lord and He assures him that nothing will happen to him and that God will provide and send the following new people to him (Hazael king over Aram, Jehu son of Nimshi king over Israel, and Elisha son of Shaphat from Abel Meholah to succeed Elijah as prophet).
