2 Samuel 21: It seems like the days of war never seemed to end for David. But thankfully for David, the Lord did not cease to give him victories after victories. It also seems that David was a shrewd king who did not necessarily want to make enemies. For example, this is obvious in the case when he handed over seven of his male descendants to the Gibeonites to be killed at their request so they could avenge Saul's annihilation of the Gibeonites from the past.

2 Samuel 22: David's Song of Praise reflects well David's heart toward the Lord. Although David was not perfect in the eyes of the Lord, yet the Lord showed unfailing kindness to his anointed one.

2 Samuel 23: I wonder why Joab is not included in the list of David's mighty warriors...(only the brothers...). It is evident that God blessed David in many ways, incl. giving him strong men power that was strong enough against any fierce opponents.

2 Samuel 24: David built an altar and offered sacrifices to atone his sins for taking census in Israel and Judah. The burnt offerings and fellowship offerings thankfully appeased the Lord and and the plague was stopped. So we can see that in order for a proper relationship to work between God and men, we have to be obedient to His word. Now we no longer have to give sacrifices since we have the Jesus Christ who speaks on our behalf to the Father. But we should not take our sins too lightly.
